We’ve been visiting our Canadian families for almost three weeks now, having a wonderful time with your Oma and Opa at their cottage on Caledon Lake. You have been an easy traveller, and have given lots of people smiles on this trip.
Your second tooth popped through last night. You’ve been an absolute gem about the teething thing — you must know your grandpa was a DENTIST. You were up three times last night, which is unusual now. Sure enough, this morning, I felt a second sharp little nub right alongside the first. By the time we’re home in a few days, you’ll have the start of a little white picket fence on your lower mouth.
One of the new things you’re doing is making an occassional sudden loud shriek, which certainly attracts attention. We laugh and then you giggle, you think it’s pretty funny.

You’ve also learned to pull open drawers and close them (I’m trying to watch your little fingers!). You had a funny look in our first week here — where you would squint with your eyes half closed looking at Opa… little flirt! Funny!! You’ve also started putting your feet on the table while eating, and then using your little feet to push your highchair away from the table. I pull you in, you push out again. Little monkey! You’re still not really crawling, you prefer to scoot but I must say you are pretty fast. You’re also getting good at pulling yourself up and standing for longer periods. You love to play ball — if we sit on the floor and roll the ball to you, you laugh and toss your arms in the air.
We’ve been gone a long time and it’s very hard on your daddy. He emails me every day asking for more pictures.
Some photos have been uploaded to keep you in touch with Little Taite…. she is being extremely easy and very good, as always.

How did you get to be nine months already? Sometimes I look at you and see you in a certain moment of thought, or looking like a big girl already, and I’m not sure how nine months passed so quickly. I look in at you before going to bed and there’s this overwhelming warmth and love in my heart, and a lump in my throat.

Your first tooth popped through the day after you turned 9 months. Bottom right on your little mouth, a little white cap peaks out. You didn’t complain at all, your sleep has been the same. Even though we’re in Caledon, Ontario now, you just don’t seem bothered by much! Here are more photos from our trip so far.
Other things you’re doing at 9 months: waving bye-bye, eating finger foods very well, especially with left hand, scooting pretty fast now (especially mid-diaper change when you get buckaroo naked), banging drum on your food tray, laughing and giggling.

While I read that at this age some babies have separation anxiety I haven’t seen that in you yet. You do notice if I leave the room, but you are mostly just fine and quite happy to be in the arms of anyone who plays with you or gives you love. This extract from the BabyCenter newsletter this week: “It may also be hard to travel with your baby right now. She’s become used to her surroundings and familiar faces, and she likes predictability. So being on the road can disrupt her sense of security and routine, especially when visiting a new place or meeting lots of strangers.” This is not the case with you, you’ve been so good this trip, easy going and despite lots of travel and different stops and new faces and places, you seem quite content and happy.
Nine Months. Three more and you’ll be a year. Wow.

We are in Canada at Lake Caledon, visiting your Oma and Opa and cousins for Thankgsiving. Your first tooth pushed its way through on Saturday, just a day after your 9 month birthday. No fuss or fever, and so far no effect on the nursing. Despite the teething and all the moving about, you have been an angel this whole trip. On the flight, many people commented as we disembarked how great you were, not making any noise at all on the plane.

Here you are with cousin Avery, 9, Jackie, 8, and Jamie, 6.

Head to head smiles with oldest cousin, Isaak, 11.

No one is happier than your Oma to have you here visiting.

You rarely miss getting a cheerio into your mouth nowadays at meals, and it’s 90% of the time with your left hand. Then I say “all right… High Five!” and you raise your hand to meet mine in the air.

This photo below was a funny moment, you were gazing at the baby in the mirror, I think you know it’s yourself, but you crawled right up to the mirror and seemed to give the baby a big kiss!

A favorite moment today… breastfeeding after a nap, you were in a particularly cheerful mood, and kept raising your hand up toward mommy’s face. I was pretending to gobble it up, and you giggled and chortled, which was hard to do without losing your intake! We laughed together for a good 10 minutes, your eyes twinkling with delight. You have a great sense of humor and like to see people laugh.

Mirror mirror on the wall….

Now you’re really getting around!

It’s a bit early but here you are at your first Halowe’en party — Paul Scott’s 3rd birthday party.
