I’ve been remiss at updating your blog, having been busy with your cousins visit and now trying to catch up. You were thrilled to have Jackie and Jamie to play with, and loved playing with them, swimming together and playing indoors and out. You were a little guarded of daddy as Jamie was being carried by him on father’s day but you soon got over it when you realized how much fun she was to play with. Jackie was like a little mother to you, always caring for you gently and with great attention. We had your first trip to the Santa Cruz boardwalk and you went alone with Jamie on a boat ride, which you loved. You clapped and waved as you went around. I realized from day one that when they left you were going to really miss your cousins when they left..

Your Oma was also so fun for you to have… she taught you "Ring around the rosie, a pocket full of posies, ashes, ashes, we all fall down" and now you will completely unaided start to twirl in circles and look at me with a wishful expectation.

Since your cousins left, you have been walking to the fridge and pulling down their photos, taking them over to the couch and placing them there. With hands in air, you make an intonation as if to ask where they went. I wish I could explain, and I know you’ll be very excited to see them again in a month.
See Photos from visit.

This is a short entry, more coming soon, but wanted to get this posted before any more time slipped away.

Also, you are now able to drink using a straw and also a little cup with a slanted rim, called a doidy cup. You bring it up to your lips, look in, and sip gingerly. Sometimes it tilts more than you expected and you look a tad surprised as it flows down your chin.

We’re getting excited about a visit from your Oma, Auntie Jenn and cousins Jackie and Jamie from Toronto. They arrive late Thursday night, and you keep asking When Will They Get Here???

This is the look you do whenever one of us leaves the room, if we don’t stop and wave goodbye first. You give a little look of disbelief and raise your hands, or sometimes just one hand in the air. "Where did he go?".

I know you’re going to have such a good time with Jackie and Jamie.

I’ve been clearing out your closet and packing away old clothes that no longer fit. It makes me sad to put away these tiny little outfits, I can still imagine you so small and yet you’ve grown into such a big girl already. I’ve started a special collection of outfits that you have had photos taken in — from your first Christmas, first birthday, portraits with family etc, so that I may one day hand them down to you if you ever decide to have a family.

When you see a bird, or if we say the word "bird" you flap your arms up and down at your side.

There’s a song Brittany sings to you about a turtle (words to follow… she’s promised to write it out for us!). The turtle goes in the bath, it drinks the water, it swallows the soap and it ends "bubbles, bubbles bubbles… ‘POP’". You bring your arms all the way out and then slap your hands together and burst out "Pop!".

New words:
Apple (We were walking through Lunardi’s and as we hit the apple aisle, you started loudly proclaiming "apppa").
Car
Truck

You’ve discovered the joy of eating cherries right off the tree.

We had a nice visit from your second cousin, mommy’s cousin Kate Barrett and her guy Dan.

Your first finger painting. You weren’t so enthused about this yet, not quite comprehending what we were supposed to be doing and why your fingers were sticky and colored!
